Trips & Tramps is providing transport connections to the Dusky Track from Te Anau. This 84km tramp is one of New Zealand's more challenging and scenic tramps for experienced parties.
The Dusky Track offers experienced parties a true New Zealand tramping experience with lush forest, wild rivers, and unrivalled scenery. Trips & Tramps is offering transport to this track during the summer months from late December to April departing Mondays and Thursdays.
The Dusky Track is a challenging but rewarding 84 km tramping track through Fiordland National Park. It takes eight to ten days to complete and links stunning Lake Hauroko with Lake Manapouri. It also offers a two day optional detour to Supper Cove in Dusky Sound.
The track crosses exceptionally mountainous country rising to 1600 metres. The forest is predominately beech, with a lush sub-canopy and stunning subalpine shrubland and tussock grass land in the alpine zone. The incredible scenery and wilderness of the area makes the journey unforgetable.
Note: There are 21 3-wire bridges on this track and you can expect to encounter tree falls, deep mud, tree roots and river crossings. Flooding of parts of the track is not unusual and can cause delays for several days. This is not for inexperienced or poorly equiped parties and the best strategy is to take time out to enjoy the track and do one hut a day!
Allow 10 days from Lake Hauroko - Supper Cove - West Arm (Lake Manapouri) or 4 days (one way) from West Arm to Supper Cove.
Note this is a transport only service, and is a non guided activity.
